A world without destruction, suffering or pain. A world where humans can make decisions without and receiving any consequence for it. Who would not want to live in a world like that? Well, Genesis 1:27 states this is what God’s original plan was for us. Being made “in the image and likeliness of God” would protect us from experiencing the harmful effects of Satan. However, when sin entered the world through Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit, God allowed for the negative effects of sin to occur in our lives.

How could God let all this happen because of one mistake from Adam and Eve?

Here is the thing, we will never know why so much destruction happened from one mistake. However, if God’s original plan for humans happened, all our choices and actions would be controlled to reflect God’s perfect nature (like robots). When sin entered the world, God gave humans freedom to make choices for ourselves. Through this freedom, we can freely align our choices that represents the image of God or we can use it for destruction (sin).

Similarly, the mindset of God can be understood by examining a loving father and child relationship. A father wants to protect his child from the harsh realities of life; however, he knows his child needs freedom to experience it for themselves to gain wisdom. Similarly, God wants to protect us from the harmful effects of sin, however, He knows we need to experience it to gain wisdom to follow His plan. Therefore, God stays quiet but watches over us with love.

Why does God want us to suffer through sin?

Romans 12:15“ Rejoice with those who rejoice, weeps with those who weep”

Let us be clear, God does not want us to suffer or experience any suffering in our lives. God feels our sufferings and want’s us to avoid it at all cause. However, our suffering does not go into vain. John 13:7 states “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but you will understand later”. There is a greater purpose for our struggles and pain that is not understood while we are on earth. However, on earth, we can use our pain to help others. Many people have helped others by sharing their experiences through writing books, blogs and YouTube videos.

Now that you all understand this. Here are 5 things people do not tell you about sin

#1 Turning away from sin exposes God’s will for our lives

Here a formula that can simplify this:

Truth + Experience = Wisdom

Let us break this down:

Truth: The Truth is found in the Word of God, commonly referred to as the Bible. The truth is the choices God wants us to choose in our lives. When we go against the Truth through our choices, we are willingly choosing to sin.

+

Experience: when we choose to sin, we are gaining the enemies planed experience for our lives. This involves the consequence of moving backwards from God’s intended will for us. It can also involve a consequence in your daily life. By identifying our sin and repenting, we are up with a plan to overcome that sin,

=

Wisdom: By following through with our plan to overcome sin, we gain the wisdom to make choices that glorify God. These positive choices are aligned with the Truth (Bible) which guides us towards achieving God’s will for our lives

The experience/sin aspect of this formula is not always needed to gain wisdom. Through regular reading of the bible and conversations with practicing Christians, wisdom can be passed down to us without us having to experience the sin firsthand. Use the Bible and the Christians in your life as learning tools towards yours. They are both here to give you guidance.

#2 You will fall into sin more frequently if your relationship with God is weak

Romans 1:21 — “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

The world is broken and sin is causing humans are going further away from God’s plan for them. Sin is becoming normalized in our culture. Due to this, we need to constantly strengthen our relationship with the Lord to flee from the temptation of sin. Praise and worship are key features that are essential to strengthen your relationship with the Lord.

Do not sin purposefully and believe that you will be forgiven later. Tomorrow is not promised for anyone and so, we need to strive for righteousness today. By sinning purposefully, we are moving further away from what God created us to be.

#3 When you accept Christ into your life, you will be convicted of your sin

You can view conviction as a side effect to giving your life to Christ. When you fully understand God unconditional love and forgiveness for human being, you receive the Holy Spirt which will make you feel weird or unhappy about you of your sin.

Conviction happens when you believe in God’s everlasting, unconditional love for you. This realization motivates you to change your ways to follow His Word — Strive for righteousness. The result of this is making choices that represent God’s unconditional love for you.

2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Do not confuse your conviction with guilt. Guilt is from the enemy should not feel guilty for our sins. Guilt occurs when the shame makes you feel unworthy of God’s forgiveness. There is no need to feel guilty for your sins because Jesus has already paid the full price for them by dying on the cross for you. Repent and allow yourself to receive His forgiveness.

#4 There will be more opportunities to sin in the areas where you are spiritually weak

When you follow and trust the Word of God, you will notice more opportunities to fall back into the sin. These opportunities specifically occur in the area’s you struggle with because the enemy uses your struggles against you. Strengthening your relationship with the Lord and finding strategies to overcome your sin is essential at this time.

Important to note: Many people around you will not feel the same motivation or desire to overcome their sin. They may even find it weird that you are focused on overcoming a sin that is meaningless to them. Do not feel discouraged, you have accepted the conviction from the Holy Spirt which is guiding you to God’s plan for you. Stay Strong.

#5 Sin will make you believe Joy is found in an image rather than in reality

There is a difference between an image of joy and actual joy. An image of joy occurs when a condition in your life has been met. This condition is usually dependent on your circumstance you face and is a distant future goal. By partaking in sin and weakening your relationship with the Lord, you start to believe an image of joy is the only kind of joy out there.

Actual joy is different because rooted in the qualities of Jesus such as His unconditional love for you. By accepting these qualities into your life, you are able to find joy in His perfect nature. This joy is constant and unchangeable.

Accepting actual joy into your life means you are interested in pleasing Him instead of the world. This will be reflected in your choices and actions.

We must remember that joy is not something we can gain through the attractive image of sin. Joy is found in our present through having a relationship with Jesus. It can not be taken away from you no matter how hard your situation gets.
